Asia Matters Business Awards

The Asia Matters Business Awards recognise Irish companies with a strategic focus on Asia and Asian companies making significant investment in Ireland.

Winners of the Awards will be announced at The Asia Matters Business Awards, with MC Gráinne Seoige on the evening of 19 November 2024

at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Golden Lane, Dublin.

The judges will be looking for evidence of an innovative and well executed Asia specific strategic approach with clear business results referencing key contributing factors such as strengths in branding & communications, new product design, strategic partnership, legal & regulatory, sustainability and manufacturing & distribution.

 

Asia Matters Business Award Categories 2024

The Asia Matters Business Awards were launched in 2018 in response to requests from our government, corporate and university members to formally recognise and celebrate the amazing achievements of Irish companies in Asian markets and Asian companies succeeding globally and in Europe from an Irish base.

Attended by 220+ business leaders and senior key stakeholders in the Asia Ireland relationship, the 2024 Asia Matters Business Award Ceremony and Black Tie Gala Dinner will take place 19 November at the Radisson Blu Hotel Golden Lane, Dublin.

The Awards recognise exports to China, Japan, South Korea, India, Indonesia, Singapore,
Philippines, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Laos, United Arab Emirates, Saudi
Arabia, Australia, New Zealand, Egypt, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain.

High Potential Exporter Award

To identify and recognise an early stage exporting company which has surpassed its potential and is demonstrating success and commitment to expand in Asia markets.

Life Sciences Exporter of the Year

Ireland’s life sciences sector has earned a global reputation for innovation and quality, with Ireland now recognised as a global life sciences hub, with a significant reputation for medtech.

This award will recognise companies in the life sciences sector for their achievements in Exporting to Asia. Includes pharmaceuticals, medical devices, diagnostics, MedTech, digital health, and bio-pharmaceutical companies.

Climate Tech Exporter of the Year

Reducing emissions and decarbonisation are whole of society challenges, and global leaders including those across Asia are increasingly turning to Irish innovators for solutions to address climate and sustainability issues in key sectors such as agriculture.

This award will recognise Ireland’s companies pioneering cutting-edge products and services to address Asia’s nutrition challenges and sustainable practices.

Local Government Award

Local Government is a key actor in all aspects of economic, social and cultural development. This new award recognises the Asia and Asian Communities work being carried out by Local Authorities, working in close collaboration with all relevant stakeholders in areas such as:

Promotion of Trade Links with Asia.
Facilitation and support for Asian Investment and Firms located and locating in Ireland. Partnering in the Promotion of Educational and Cultural Links and enhancing Community and Cultural Development Supports and Collaborative Projects with Asian Communities in Ireland.

Higher Education Asian Alumnus Award

The candidate should be a student from an Asian country who has pursued programme of study or research at an Irish higher education institution. Candidates may include Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship holders, Education in Ireland Scholarship recipients and Ireland Aid beneficiaries.

The award should go to the graduate who on return to his/her country of origin has created an action/activity with tangible benefits to society such as enhancing the capacity of their home country. Priority will be attached to projects that have created an ongoing partnership with an Irish higher education institution.

Higher Education Partnership of the Year

This award rewards strategic higher education partnership with an Asian institution. Moving beyond a focus on revenue from Asian students, the judges will be looking for a more sustainable and mutually supportive relationship based on elements such as joint programmes, shared research, staff exchange and mutual student mobility.

Tourism Partner of the Year

The impending return of Asian tourists to Europe in 2024 is forecast to be 60-80% up on 2023 figures with a return to full 2019 levels in 2025. This category is open to hotels retail and tourist venues with a strong Asia offering.

Food & Drink Exporter of the Year

With Ireland’s heritage and continuous improvement through research and innovation in areas including productivity, sustainable food processing, health and nutrition, Irish Food & Drink exporters have a strong reputation as being quality food across Asia.

This award will recognise those businesses delivering well differentiated innovative food & drink products across Asian markets.

Fintech, Financial & Business Services Exporter of the Year

Ireland’s overseas and indigenous companies are creating innovative products and services and are ideal partners or service providers for fintech and financial services across Asia.

This award will recognise overseas and indigenous Financial Services, Fintech and Business Service Providers trading in Asia.

Technology Exporter of the Year

Ireland strong technology global export footprint in many sectors including Aerospace, Advanced Manufacturing, Sports Technology, Education Technology and Digital Technology.

This award will recognise the achievements of cutting edge Irish companies innovators playing a pivotal and disruptive role in Asia with their cutting-edge services, solutions and exceptional talent.

Exporter of the Year

This Blue Riband award will be presented to the overall exporter of the year chosen by the judges from the category winners.
